Hi. I had been wanting to have my own mp3 blog* / photo blog for many years... and then today I realized you can just sign up on this site for free. So that really took the mystique out of it for me, but here I am. I'll be sharing songs, photos and videos and other stuff. You can check out a few thousand music/film ratings & reviews on my Rate Your Music page. (See RYM link in profile). I go to concerts in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, and I play basketball lots of places, and I grow palm trees. I feel weird being the new kid on the Blogspot block, but hopefully this site will develop into something of substance. After teaching myself basic HTML in '99, I ran an online music zine that was up for about 8 years, but now I'm rusty when it comes to knowing how to make a webpage, and the people who were literally somewhere between kindergarten and elementary school back then are now the tastemakers of hipster culture online. I'll be trying to offer up songs by overlooked shoegaze, ambient, dream-pop and "post-rock" type bands, plus other food for thought, with the goal of avoiding overhyped bands-of-the-moment.
*Can one even host free mp3s for download on here anymore? I sure hope so. Should have made sure before joining.
Note: The title of this post is the title of an article that Sonic Youth bassist/singer Kim Gordon wrote for Artforum magazine in 1983. The cartoon strip excerpt is apparently from Tank McNamara.
